Monroe Elementary prides itself on being a welcoming, inspiring and high-quality academic setting for all of our students. In order to maintain, and improve upon that, we need strong support from the Monroe parents. Therefore, we are asking that each family commit to volunteering for at least ONE THING at our school.

Please tell us the ways in which you would like to contribute to your child’s school. Together, we can help our children succeed!

Reading Partners

Reading Partners mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. An evidence-based and community-driven organization, they recruit and train volunteers to work one-on-one with students for 45 minutes twice a week, following a structured, research-based curriculum. Their program model works and is backed by evidence-based research which proves that our students make significant gains in reading. On average, Reading Partners’ students more than double their rate of learning while in the program.

Reading is the foundation for all future learning, and the ability to read transforms lives and empowers children and communities to reach their full potential. Research shows that students who read at grade level by fourth grade have a greater opportunity to succeed in school and in life.

If you’d like to become a volunteer at Monroe with Reading Partners, please contact Micah Mammano who serves as a Site Coordinator at Monroe. She can be reached here by email, or by calling (916) 538-1466.

Fall Fun Festival

Our yearly Fall Fun Festival is one of Monroe’s biggest fundraisers and a great community builder, but it requires a lot of volunteers from the Monroe community, so please volunteer to help if you can, even for a couple hours. You’ll have a blast, and feel good about supporting the school!

Come to a Fall Fun Fest planning meeting to find out more. Information on meetings will be in the student’s blue communication folders.

This year’s festival date will be announced soon.

Here are some photos from years past…
